Beautiful side of Manila.

Kuvat puhukoot puolestani.

I want to tell you how different world seems to be. How small moments counts. I would love to know how to explain what I feel, what I experience. How travelling alone is rough, but worth of every second. I have so much to share, but I don't find the words.

So here are some pictures from Philippines. I stayed in Manila for one weekend. It was beautiful.

Different things in Korea. Part 1

Every country, even every city has their own small things. Things you notice at first, but get used to when you have been there for long. I'm going to list those things and I believe there will be more than one part. So let's go.

1. They photoshop their passport pictures.
It's weird, but true. I went to get my photo for alien registration and ended up having photo like this:
When you compare it to my passport photo from last year, something has changed. My nose has gotten smaller, skin is even lighter and very smooth - which it isn't right now.. My lips look different, I'm still not sure how, but they do. And my eyes! They are wider and rounder. I can still recognize myself, but I heard stories how people won't be able to travel because they don't look anything like their passport.

My roommate's photos were also manipulated. Skin color was lighter, whole face was slimmer - like they actually changed the face structure. In student ID card they had but some makeup on.. For me this is really crazy, but it seems to be normal here.

2. You do NOT throw toilet paper in the toilet.
Yea. There are trash cans for toilet paper in every toilet. This isn't the first time I see this, but  I'm starting to question the whole concept of toilet paper if you can't throw it in the toilet. The piping here is quite old, so the toilet might get clogged. It's understandable, but still so weird.

3. Slim cigarettes are sexy.
Women don't smoke here, so all of the cigarettes are for men, There are many kinds of cigarettes and many of them are slim. They even compare men to slim cigarette, those ads are hilarious. I have seen so many guys smoking slim cigarette, it creeps me out. In Finland only women smoke slims. And usually people thing you are stupid blonde if you do so. So slim cigarettes aren't that sexy in Finland.

I think I seem very unattractive here, because I keep smoking even if I'm woman.

4. There is braille almost everywhere.
It's really good thing. Of course we have it also in Finland, but here it seems to be everywhere. I was going up to metro station and the handrail had braille on it! Just before every turn or some change, it's there. I think it's so cool and very helpful. Maybe we get something like that in Finland also.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erilaisia (ja yleensä outoja) juttuja Koreassa, part 1.

1. Kuvausliikkeet muokkaavat passikuvia.
2. Vessapaperia ei heitetä vessanpönttöön.
3. Slim-tupakat ovat seksikkäitä
4. Sokeainkirjoitusta on lähes kaikkialla.

OMG, he's coming!

Kun lähdin vaihtoon, valmistauduin henkisesti turhautumaan, käymään kierroksilla, masentumaan, kokemaan kaikki mahdollisesti tunteet. Eniten kuitenkin valmistauduin henkisesti olemaan erossa kaikista rakkaistani.

Korea on eri asia.

Aivan uskomatonta.

My boyfriend is coming to visit me! On my birthday in November. That is the most incredible birthday gift I could wish while being here. It took me over a week to actually realize he bought the tickets and hostel. He's really coming and little over month I can touch him, hug him, sleep next to him.

It's so unbelievable.

Parisuhdepohdintoja

Miksi suhde olisi este kokemasta elämää mullistava syksy? En koe jääväni mistään paitsi, vaikka en harrasta seksiä randomeiden kanssa.

Tietenkin vaihto asettaa suhteen koetukselle. Olet erossa kumppanistasi, koet uusia asioita ja kasvat ihmisenä. Tulet takaisin uudenlaisena ihmisenä eikä kumppanisi välttämättä ymmärrä asiaa. Olette molemmat muuttuneet erossa olon aikana, joten teidän tulee tutustua toisiinne uudestaan.

Luotan, että me selvitään.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I talked with some guys about relationships during student exchange. One of them had broken up with his girlfriend because coming here. Other one was really worried what will happen to the relationship.

I don't deny how hard it's to be apart from your loved ones. This autumn will be really hard. I'll experience so much, I'll grow as a person, I'll probably come back so different. So will they, they'll change. But it's not a bad thing. We are always changing. This time it's more challenging, because we are apart. It just means we'll have to get known to each other again.

I believe I can experience as much as the single people. My experience doesn't dependent on how many people I can fuck during my exchange. I'll probably have a crush at least once, but that might happen in Finland also. My partners know how I act, how I feel and they are always the first ones to hear about anything.

Maybe I'm different, maybe I think differently on things. My relationships might not be the most traditional ones, but I'm happy with it. I believe love don't end if you share it, it will only grow. That's why I don't have the need to tide down my loves one.

And yeah, of course I'm a little bit nervous who my exchange will affect on everything. That's something I can't control, so why would I worry about it now. I believe we will survive.

Kuinka Korea kasvattaa. Part 1

Mieleni valtaa muistot ala-asteelta.

Kuinka paljon on valmis muuttumaan, jotta sopii porukkaan?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in Finland I live in my own bubble. I have gathered amazing people around me, kicked out the idiots and ended up with truly accepting, loving and caring group around me. I have created a soft bubble, where it's okay to be yourself.

Of course it hasn't always be like that and here I have got the reminder of it. People don't always accept you if you are different. They look at you, criticize and leave you out of the gang. This is like elementary school over again. This time I'm not interested to deal with it like I use to do.

I don't know who I am or what do I want to do with my life. I have learnt to accept it - step by step, since I know no one knows what they are doing. Everybody is just as messed up as I am. But here I have realized that I am me. I don't know how to explain it.

I have my own weird habits, features and things I'm not ready to give up. I always carry Poro with me, I use cat ears in the bar. One day I put lipstick on and next day I'm all natural. I cross my legs in the restaurants, get too drunk from makgeolli. I dance in the street, love everyone and I don't come out of my room for days. I think I'm perfectly normal, but here so many people seem to think I'm weird.

Maybe I have surrounded myself with same-minded people. With them I fit in the picture, but in Korea I'm out of context. I'm the chaos without any sense. It makes me confront myself and wonder what are those things I'm not ready to lose. How much am I ready to change to fit in the group?

Right now I think I have full rights to be the weird version of me and I'm not ready to change for others. I rather be alone than be something I'm not.

Grand K-Pop Festival

Grand K-Pop Festival was free concert for foreigners who wanted to experience K-Pop. It was organised by Korean Tourism Organization and it seemed like advertisement for Korea. For me it was okay to listen some advertisement for Korea Grand Sale, since I just wanted to hear some K-Pop.

The line up was kinda impressive - at least I heard so.
EXID
BTOB
BEAST
Block B
CNBLUE
EXO Chen
SHINee Taemin
Girls' Generation

All of them were good, screaming fans were unbelievable  and the shows incredible.
