Different things in Korea. Part 1

Every country, even every city has their own small things. Things you notice at first, but get used to when you have been there for long. I'm going to list those things and I believe there will be more than one part. So let's go.

1. They photoshop their passport pictures.
It's weird, but true. I went to get my photo for alien registration and ended up having photo like this:
When you compare it to my passport photo from last year, something has changed. My nose has gotten smaller, skin is even lighter and very smooth - which it isn't right now.. My lips look different, I'm still not sure how, but they do. And my eyes! They are wider and rounder. I can still recognize myself, but I heard stories how people won't be able to travel because they don't look anything like their passport.

My roommate's photos were also manipulated. Skin color was lighter, whole face was slimmer - like they actually changed the face structure. In student ID card they had but some makeup on.. For me this is really crazy, but it seems to be normal here.

2. You do NOT throw toilet paper in the toilet.
Yea. There are trash cans for toilet paper in every toilet. This isn't the first time I see this, but  I'm starting to question the whole concept of toilet paper if you can't throw it in the toilet. The piping here is quite old, so the toilet might get clogged. It's understandable, but still so weird.

3. Slim cigarettes are sexy.
Women don't smoke here, so all of the cigarettes are for men, There are many kinds of cigarettes and many of them are slim. They even compare men to slim cigarette, those ads are hilarious. I have seen so many guys smoking slim cigarette, it creeps me out. In Finland only women smoke slims. And usually people thing you are stupid blonde if you do so. So slim cigarettes aren't that sexy in Finland.

I think I seem very unattractive here, because I keep smoking even if I'm woman.

4. There is braille almost everywhere.
It's really good thing. Of course we have it also in Finland, but here it seems to be everywhere. I was going up to metro station and the handrail had braille on it! Just before every turn or some change, it's there. I think it's so cool and very helpful. Maybe we get something like that in Finland also.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erilaisia (ja yleensä outoja) juttuja Koreassa, part 1.

1. Kuvausliikkeet muokkaavat passikuvia.
2. Vessapaperia ei heitetä vessanpönttöön.
3. Slim-tupakat ovat seksikkäitä
4. Sokeainkirjoitusta on lähes kaikkialla.
