Maybe it's chemistry.

Open-mindness is difficult thing. I think myself quite open-minded and understanding. Still I find myself around western people. Somehow I tend to end up spending my time with scandinavian people or people from same kind of culture. I don't do it on purpose, but it still happens. It makes me wonder is it because culture, do I feel saver around people from same kind of culture. Or is it only about persons, you get along with someone really well and others not so good. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with background.

I haven't really gotten in the exchange student group and I keep finding myself with random people - and getting along with them really well.

I have met a guy from Pakistan and partied with him until five in the morning. I have met so many multicultural people and listened their stories. I have walked aimlessly and explained differences between open relationship and  polyamory. I have sit middle of the room, talked with same-minded people and listened to their stories about their cats.

I smile like crazy because middle of these people, middle of these small shared moments, I feel like home. I'm so happy. The best moments and nights have been with random people and the best part is - they aren't random or unknown anymore.

Maybe it's nothing else than chemistry. Some people get along and have mutual understanding right away and I like spending time with people who accept me. But I know I can't do that always. I want to grow as a person and that means challenging myself. Sometimes I have to get out of my comfort zone.

To the adventure!

Koko alkuviikko on mennyt kouluhommien parissa, sillä midterm-kokeet lähestyvät kovaa vauhtia.

Seikkaileminen on kivaa.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have spent whole week only for school stuff, because midterms are coming. Even though I know it's enough if I just pass the courses, I still stress about them. Deadlines of the projects are closing and I start to wonder how have I ever managed to deal with both work and school at the same time.

My hard work will be repayed today - I'm going to explore! I'll head to south coast of Korea for Floating lanterns festival. I'll visit Oktoberfest also and maybe go hiking a little bit. The bus takes long (4-8 hours, depending on the traffic), but luckily I can use for sleeping.

It's so nice to see other side of Korea. I live adventures.

Cute cafes.

Koreassa on paljon erilaisia teemakahviloita. Kissakahviloita on monia ympäriinsä ja toistaiseksi olen käynyt vasta yhdessä. Kävin tutustumassa Cat Attic Cat Cafe'en Gangnamissa.

Kissoilla on myös oma alueensa, jonne he voivat mennä, mikäli haluat omaa rauhaa.

Small overview of cute cafes here in Seoul.

I visited Cat Attic Cat Cafe in Gangnam. It was kinda tricky to find but after 15 minutes of circling around the house I found my way inside. Cats seemed happy, unstressed and well-kept, they had many hiding places, cat trees, toys and food. The entrance fee was 8000wons (about 6 euros) including one drink. I think it's not much for spending whole day with cats. You can play with them, pet them. You can study, sleep, read or anything in the cafe and it's totally up to you how long you are staying. The basic rule is do not do anything that could stress the cats.

A little weirder experience was Thanks Nature Cafe in Hongdae. It is the only sheep cafe in Seoul. They have two adorable sheep in front of the cafe. You can pet them, feed them and play with them if you are customer of the cafe. Sheep and their caretaker seem to have amazing bond and sheep seem to be happy.

There are many other kinds of cafes in Korea, but I haven't have time to visit them yet. I'll visit dog cafe and fish spa cafe - at least. I promise you will hear about them as soon as I have been there.

Different things in Korea, Part 2.

So the list continues! See the first part here.

5. The traffic lights doesn't make any sense.
Seriously. There's like four different lights lined next to each other and I still don't understand how the hell they are working. There's red, green, green for turning, lights off.. Every time I have a feeling I know how they work - something happens and I'm back to the beginning. Maybe they'll make sense after few months..

6. There's puppies on sale in the supermarket
I know it's common in many countries, but in Finland it isn't. It's so weird to see small puppies in small boxes looking at you. It's kind of sad. Dogs aren't something you buy while shopping for milk. They are part of your family, like other animals.

But maybe it's the culture. I think (and hope) people usually love their dogs really much, no matter where they have bought them.

7. Random people start talking with you.
When you are walking in the street, someone just stops you and starts talking. They start talking some random stuff. This has happen to me few times now and every time I have been alone. Those talks are really interesting.

I have learnt I have Mongolian ancestors. I have got some bible stuff to read - still haven't check them out.. And I have seen picture of some army guy whose girlfriend is in Denmark and heard how beautiful country Finland is. I'm looking forward for next conversation.

8. People use phones in metros even more than Finnish people.
Someone might disagree, but for me it really seems like it. Everyone is with their phone and doing something. One day I was the only one without phone in my hand and it was the rush hour. Sometimes I wonder how people get off on right stop, because they aren't looking or listening. Apparently they instinctively know where they are.

Beautiful side of Manila.

Kuvat puhukoot puolestani.

I want to tell you how different world seems to be. How small moments counts. I would love to know how to explain what I feel, what I experience. How travelling alone is rough, but worth of every second. I have so much to share, but I don't find the words.

So here are some pictures from Philippines. I stayed in Manila for one weekend. It was beautiful.

Different things in Korea. Part 1

Every country, even every city has their own small things. Things you notice at first, but get used to when you have been there for long. I'm going to list those things and I believe there will be more than one part. So let's go.

1. They photoshop their passport pictures.
It's weird, but true. I went to get my photo for alien registration and ended up having photo like this:
When you compare it to my passport photo from last year, something has changed. My nose has gotten smaller, skin is even lighter and very smooth - which it isn't right now.. My lips look different, I'm still not sure how, but they do. And my eyes! They are wider and rounder. I can still recognize myself, but I heard stories how people won't be able to travel because they don't look anything like their passport.

My roommate's photos were also manipulated. Skin color was lighter, whole face was slimmer - like they actually changed the face structure. In student ID card they had but some makeup on.. For me this is really crazy, but it seems to be normal here.

2. You do NOT throw toilet paper in the toilet.
Yea. There are trash cans for toilet paper in every toilet. This isn't the first time I see this, but  I'm starting to question the whole concept of toilet paper if you can't throw it in the toilet. The piping here is quite old, so the toilet might get clogged. It's understandable, but still so weird.

3. Slim cigarettes are sexy.
Women don't smoke here, so all of the cigarettes are for men, There are many kinds of cigarettes and many of them are slim. They even compare men to slim cigarette, those ads are hilarious. I have seen so many guys smoking slim cigarette, it creeps me out. In Finland only women smoke slims. And usually people thing you are stupid blonde if you do so. So slim cigarettes aren't that sexy in Finland.

I think I seem very unattractive here, because I keep smoking even if I'm woman.

4. There is braille almost everywhere.
It's really good thing. Of course we have it also in Finland, but here it seems to be everywhere. I was going up to metro station and the handrail had braille on it! Just before every turn or some change, it's there. I think it's so cool and very helpful. Maybe we get something like that in Finland also.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erilaisia (ja yleensä outoja) juttuja Koreassa, part 1.

1. Kuvausliikkeet muokkaavat passikuvia.
2. Vessapaperia ei heitetä vessanpönttöön.
3. Slim-tupakat ovat seksikkäitä
4. Sokeainkirjoitusta on lähes kaikkialla.
